In the Meantime

I know I've said it before: every time I think I've had it with this blog, people start talking to me and I realize how much I miss it. So here we go again. Yet another "catch you up to speed" post with the intention of doing a better job in the future.

This past month has seen the eruption of two teeth, the beginning and mastery of crawling, and the torturous pull-to-stand strength building. A lot for one little girl in one month. As if that weren't enough, we've also been busy meeting up with old, old friends and participating in a sort of family reunion / ski vacation in Colorado.

As Little Bird's independence steadily grows, I find myself thinking more and more about the purpose of parenting. She isn't mine to keep. She's been given to me for the purposing of teaching, training, and equipping so that--when the time comes--she will be able to go out on her and live the life God has called her to. Every time I think it, my eyes mist over with tears. But I'm so thankful for the opportunity to have her to myself for this time and the coming years. I'm grateful and humbled that God has chosen me as her teacher, guide, and mentor. I pray that, with His help, I'll do a good job so that--again, when the time comes--she will be ready.

Of course, in the mean time, we're having loads of fun showing Evelyn all kinds of things--like snow sledding--for the first time!
